Our Milestone Ministry is an opportunity for our church to grow together by celebrating with one another these big steps in their faith life – Baptism, 3 Year Old Bibles, 3rd Grade Bibles & Catechisms, Confirmation/First Communion, and Graduation.
3 Year Old Bibles
As your child nears their school years, we want to give families resources to learn faith at home. Children’s Bibles are a great way to connect your children with the Word of God and teach them about what God has done for them. This Milestone is recognized with a Sunday Morning learning opportunity. Parents will learn about how they can use this Bible to teach their children about faith and sign a special blessing in the Bibles for their children. After the children receive their Bibles they will take pictures and share a treat with their parents. On another night, there will be a Pajama Party for families to come, learn a Bible story through fun activities and stations.
3rd Grade Bibles and Catechisms
We recognize this milestone in our worship service. Parents and 3rd grade students come to the front of the Sanctuary together and share God’s Word. Children give Luther’s Small Catechism to their parents as a reminder to teach faith in the home and parents give the Bible to their children as a gift to learn more about God. This recognition is followed by a night to “Walk Through the Bible” with one of our Pastors.
All Saints Baptism Celebration
Our Baptism Milestone is celebrated in multiple ways. First, on the day of the child’s Baptism, we, the church, always love to share that moment with your family. On All Saints’ Day there will be a larger celebration and recognition for your child and all who were baptized during the year. At each service the names of the children who have been baptized during the year will be read. You will light a candle from the Christ Candle to remember your child’s Baptism. In between our worship services at 9:30 AM, there will be a party to celebrate your children as gifts of God and explore ways to teach them about Jesus. This is a great way for you to meet other families at St. John’s.

Confirmation
The Rite of Confirmation is a great moment of recognition for the young teens who have taken time to learn more about their faith and the doctrine of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. We celebrate this milestone of our young members sharing their faith in the congregation and reminding each of us of our identity as Baptized children of God.
Graduation – June
This is one of the most impactful changes one will go through in their lifetime. Graduation is the moment of transition where one goes from dependent on their parents and families to independent. Whether they go to college or start in the workforce, they will now have to face many decisions on their own. This milestone is a celebration of this great accomplishment, but also a time to remind these students of their St. John’s family and give them resources to help them make Christ-centered decisions.
