On Sunday, October 25, St. John’s will welcome Dr. Robert Carter of Creation Ministries International for a special day of presentations exploring creation, science, and the Bible.
Dr. Carter holds a PhD in Marine Biology and is an author and speaker who addresses questions about science and Scripture and how a biblical worldview shapes the way we understand the world around us.

St. John’s Gym | 5th Grade through Adults
During Education Hour, St. John’s members in 5th grade through adult are invited to a special presentation just for our congregation.
People of all ages are captivated by dinosaurs. Unfortunately, evolutionists use dinosaurs to indoctrinate the young and the old with an earth history that includes millions of years but has no room for the Bible. This presentation will show the power of a person’s starting assumptions (or “worldview”) when interpreting past events and will define the different types of sciences used in investigating the world around us, with a thorough exploration of these enigmatic lizards. Let’s take dinosaurs to the Bible and see what God’s word has to say about them!

Public Afternoon Presentations
Dr. Carter will also give two presentations later that afternoon in the St. John’s gym that are open to the public. St. John’s members are encouraged to attend and invite friends, family, and neighbors!
4:00 PM | The Alternative: Creation’s Competitive Edge
Unfortunately (and from our experience) even most Christians believe that the battle for our beginnings (the creation/evolution debate) is a side issue. But this is a foundational issue for the church because it goes to the heart of the authority of the Bible. Christians tell us that when witnessing to their friends the most common questions are actually about ‘science’ and related issues. Questions like: “What about dinosaurs? Where did the races come from? Why does a God of love allow death and suffering? Are the days in Genesis millions of years”? It is these ‘rubber hits the road’ type questions that most people are asking today, and CMI, as a specialist information ministry operating in this area, aims to provide answers to show that the Bible connects with all of reality and that it can actually answer these questions. Ultimately, most of the answers for such questions stem from the very first book: Genesis!
5:30 PM | Biblical Worldview as it Relates to Science + Q&A
Today, Bible-believers are a great minority among practicing scientists and are subject to much persecution. Yet, modern science was developed on principles directly derived from Christian theology. Despite that history, science today operates without even token admission of its roots. How does this affect current scientific practices? Can we trust the conclusions of all those men and women in white lab coats? Can science operate in a moral and ontological vacuum? We will examine three examples of how the turn from belief in God has affected modern thought: geomorphology (the shape of the earth’s surface), fossilization (the process of preserving the remains of living organisms), and genetics (specifically as it relates to the genetic history of mankind). In each of these subject areas, we will examine the evolutionary scenarios put forth to date and weigh them against solid biblical exposition. In the end, we will see that the evolutionary conclusions for each of these subjects are derived more from starting assumptions than it is from reality. Science belongs under the umbrella of Christianity.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served between the two afternoon presentations.
