Maundy Thursday Service and the Triduum
Tonight’s service is the first service of what is known as The Triduum – Latin for “Three Days.” Worship during The Triduum is viewed as one service, so Maundy Thursday worship begins with an organ prelude, the ringing of the bells, and an Invocation, but there is no Benediction. Good Friday has no prelude, Invocation or Benediction and ends in darkness. The Easter Sonrise service continues by beginning in silence and darkness with no bells and invocation.
